Blog Entry 6: The Truman Show

The Perfect World: Cristoff creates what he considers a “perfect world” for Truman to live “happily ever after.” How does Seahaven compare to your world in terms of family life, neighborhood life, work life, and leisure time? Would you choose to live in Cristoff’s world? Why or why not?

I don't want to live in Cristoff world because it is other people to give. Although Truman didn't know he was living in a world that vreated by others, it still a fictional environment. I want to live in world that is reality. In our world, there are some lies, but it is still true. All the emotions, experences and contacts are to get through their own percetion.

Blog Entry 5: I know the Truth

People always don’t like being duped because the feeling is badly. Some people know the truth will be hurt them, they also want to know it. Other people hope to be protected, even though they are duped. But I think when people know that everyone know truth, and just self don’t know, I believe they can’t accept because most people think the fact is very important for them. I agree with the author that although people are easily duped by rumors and lies, people should know facts, because the flat-out lie and rumors make some people don't believe again, and people should accept facts although they believe that they are wrong.

According to Jeffrey Kluger in the article “I know the Truth, so Don’t Bother Me with Facts.” People easily duped by rumors and lies. At Ohio State University, They study what it makes it free people from believing. There are 750 people believe at least one rumors. And then tell them facts to change their opinions. Garret and Nisbet have two difficult conclusions; first, give insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes to control people's belief. Second, even have best environment; also have one person to reverse his positions and contradictory evidence. Although people take to learn the facts, the effort doesn't must to be good. Some people are ego, they don't like to admit they are wrong, but some investigators are considered.

In the life, there are most rumors and flat-out lies. For the rumors, we don’t know which is true, most people in order to check them to go to adventure. For flat-out lies, some people give wrong information to mislead. If people listen more and more, people should not believe others. For example, my parents are very old-fashioned. When I live in the New York by myself, and my parents live in the China. There wasn’t parents’ restriction, I would go out to club, and play with my friends. When parents asked me why did I not at home, or why did I come back home later, I always lied to them that I was at school, or at friend’s home. Sometimes, parents would ask me what did I do stay at my friends home, I always said good things such as we talked about we would transfer which college, how to find a good job, or our dreams to them. One time, my lies were debunked, and then, they did not believe me. When I told them true, they are always doubtful of me. When we say a lie, we need use more and more lies to explain the lie. At one day, when we don’t lie, we don’t know how to explain the true thing, and other people maybe don’t believe your saying.

Some facts are hard accepting to people because the face is far for people thoughts, but people have power to know fact. People always think that most people agree the thing is true, they don't know some faces grasp in a few people. People also should know that to think which one is right. Through time pass, there are more and more people to prove the face. Let other people believe. For example, as long ago as 260 B.C., the Greek astronomer Aristechus said that the Earth moves with the Sun, but nobody believed him. At this time, the religion gave him death penalty. Until A.D. 1728, almost 2000 years, the British astronomer James Bradly was proved that the Earth is sure around with the Sun to move. However, people always know what the truth.


In conclusion,. When people face truth, people should think more and more that about the possibility of the things, and don’t blindly believe that all people think of “the truth.” People should believe themselves heart, and brave to face the fact.

What difficulty did you have developing a thesis?
I feel difficulty that is hard to summarize author's thought, and to get my opinion for claim. When I am not sure for my claim, the reasons begin to chaos. There are more reasons but that not for same claim that take the essay to be uncomprehended.

What do you think you need to work on?
I think I need to think more about the article summary, and the author's opinion. I believe that can help me to get good claim. and then, begin to think the reason that is easy to take compete thesis.

Blog Entry 3: "My Place in the Cave"

According to Plato in "The Allegory of the Cave" Socrates is speaking with Glauco to about his life. At fitst, author show prisoners chained since birth. They can't move and just hear echoes and look at shadows that are made walking on a raised pathway behind the prisoners. And believing their hearing and looking is real. One day, one of the prisoners is set free. Gradually, his sight adjusts. He leaves the cave. He slowly becomes accustomed to the sights of the world outside the cave. He decides to return to the cave.His ability to predict the shadows is diminished. The prisoners mock him and threaten to kill him.

I think our lives like cave. Some people just see around our things, and listen from around other people. They look at things like shadows that just an apparition. And they don't know that is real or not. Cave is very small, I believe people shouldn't stay at cave because the world is very big, and there are more interested things in the world that wait us to find. Then when we look at more and more, and understand some things, the small cave isnot stay bhind us.

According to Kallen Lasn in "Hype" advertisements are harmful to people's mind. Everyday, we listen, watch, hear, and read more advertisements, and everywhere, we also can find them. The advertisements live around us, and we haven't any way to escape from it. Therefore, we don't too care the advertisements.

We live in the high technology world, we can look at advertisements in anywhere. Such as we can read more advertisements in newspaper, wiapper, and internet. We also look at big brands in building, road, and subway. Kallen Lasn also said:"Every day an estimated 12 bullion display ads, 3 million radio commercials and more than 200,000 TV commercials are dumpd into North America's collective unconscious." Therefor, there are more and more advertisements. If we will remember both, I believe our mind will explode. But if we don't look at them, we will leave the society pathway. So, people don't painstakingly to remember them because there are too much.

When we look at more and more ads, we will begin to be affected. Some people think more ads are good for people because they give people impetus. In order to their object, they should hard to work. Some people think more ads are bad for people because they give more enticements that make people forget themselves abilities. For example, I know a girl, she is beartiful, but she also is avaricious. When she looked the ads, she always thought that she wanted them, but she hadn't any ablity to get them. At last, she went to be a prostitute to come true her wishing. Therefor people should know themselves abilities to get something, and don't because like or want to change the pronciple.

In conclusion, although small ads are not worth mentioning, when they become too much, they also harm people. In the world that ads live in our lives, we should learn how to keep our mind to clear.
